Maple Ridge council nears end of “long journey” to employment land

August 14, 2024

The City of Maple Ridge has completed planning to create an industrial park known as the Yennadon Lands.

At a July 23 meeting, council gave final approval to the project – what manager of planning Amanda Grochowich called “the last step in a very long journey that the city has been on.”

In 2020, the council of the day endorsed a plan to provide 100 per cent employment in the development – with no residential use. Staff has since been working on the project, including removing a property from the Agricultural Land Reserve.

After consulting the public, the concept plan was developed with a goal of job creation, without impacting residential neighbours with noise, smells or other impacts, Grochowich explained. Her report to council describes it as a “future boutique employment park.”

Grochowich described it as being a more contemporary version of the Maple Meadows business park, and noted the range of uses would include operations such as a brewery, but not junk yards, large warehouses or heavy industry that could be found in an industrial park.
