Maple Ridge Entrepreneur participates in Startup Fashion Week Toronto

October 28, 2019

Lalena Whitcombe, founder and owner of Hourglass Heaven, attended Startup Fashion Week in Toronto last week where her designs hit the runway for the first time. Whitcombe started her business after losing her job at a computer software company. She searched for a new job for a full year and then her WorkBC case manager referred her to the self-employment program at Douglas College. Whitcombe says she is proud to have been able to build an ethical and sustainable business in Canada that manufactures clothing in Metro Vancouver.
