Back to Work!

October 11, 2019

Noel worked as a painter/drywaller for more than 30 years. He injured himself and underwent physiotherapy to heal and take on lighter duties. Unfortunately, even lighter duties in his line of work was not possible and Noel was not able to keep his job.

Noel came to the Maple Ridge WorkBC Centre anxious about his ability to work and about his future. The Centre provided him career counselling and offered him workshops to explore his career options and to understand approaches to his new job search. The Centre assisted him to develop a targeted resume and helped him build some confidence to head into interviews. As he participated in these WorkBC services, his anxieties lessened, and his confidence grew.

Noel is very pleased to now be working with Canada Post as a postal clerk picking up and delivering mail to and from government agencies. When Noel was asked about his experience and the staff at the Centre he said:

“Friendly professional staff with knowledge to share that helped me gain confidence in my job search and land a great job! Joe made the workshops very relaxed and easy to learn. Liba was very friendly and helpful, especially in timely advice that kept me from making a major mistake.”

All the best Noel from all of us at WorkBC Maple Ridge!
