May 30, 2025

Momentum 2025 was a great success!

On May 22nd, the City of Maple Ridge, the Ridge Meadows Chamber of Commerce and School District 42 co-hosted Momentum: Economic Growth & Success Expo.  WorkBC Maple Ridge was a proud sponsor of this first ever event – a dynamic and impactful event that brought the community together to explore the future of work and economic development in the region.

With more than 600 people registered and an estimated 200–300 attendees throughout the day, the event was a powerful platform for learning, networking, and inspiration.

A Conversation for the Future

The Expo’s panels were a major highlight, drawing engaged audiences to discuss hot topics including:

  • Responses to tariffs and interprovincial trade
  • Labour market outlooks and economic growth forecasts
  • Transit expansion and infrastructure planning
  • HR best practices for hiring individuals with diverse abilities and newcomers

These conversations brought together leaders and local employers to share insights and strategies that are shaping our region’s economy.

Building Connections at the Resource Fair

A cornerstone of the event was the Jobs, Education, and Resource Fair, which featured:

  • 40 exhibitors:
    • 18 employers actively recruiting
    • 6 post-secondary institutions showcasing educational pathways
    • 16 community organizations sharing vital resources

Additionally, a student-specific fair was hosted in collaboration with School District 42 (SD42), giving youth a tailored opportunity to connect with employers and educators.

Positive Feedback

The event received overwhelmingly positive feedback, with many participants commenting on the strength of the panel discussions, the level of community involvement, and the inclusive, forward-looking approach of the Expo. As intended, the event created a space where ideas were exchanged, partnerships strengthened, and attendees left informed and inspired.
