Rebuilding Confidence and Securing a Fresh Start

After relocating to Maple Ridge, one client, an experienced Educational Assistant, faced the daunting task of restarting her career while navigating significant personal challenges. As a single parent rebuilding her life, she felt overwhelmed and unsure where to begin. Determined to find stable employment but lacking direction, she turned to the Maple Ridge WorkBC Centre for support.

From the outset, WorkBC provided a comprehensive, wraparound approach that addressed both her employment goals and personal well-being. On the career side, she received tailored support to strengthen her job readiness. This included refining her resume to better showcase her experience and transferable skills, practicing interview techniques, and receiving guidance on professional presentation. She also expanded her job search strategies, gaining access to new tools and approaches that led to multiple interview opportunities. Through LinkedIn Learning, she was able to build additional skills at her own pace. Regular check-ins with her Career Coach helped the client maintain momentum and accountability.

Practical assistance, including gas cards, reduced immediate financial stress and enabled her to fully participate in her job search.

With this combination of career and personal supports, she regained her confidence and reconnected with her professional strengths. These efforts resulted in four job offers. With guidance from WorkBC staff, she was able to evaluate her options and choose the position that best aligned with her long-term goals.

Today, she is successfully employed full-time as an Educational Assistant, feeling empowered and optimistic about her future.
