Celebrating Youth Week – Success Story #2

May 6, 2021

WorkBC Langley & Maple Ridge are pleased to share the story of Colin, (21), a client and now working towards a career in administration.

Colin has faced challenges due to his cerebral palsy, but he has endeavored to persevere in his search for meaningful long-term employment. Through his senior years at high school and the first few years since graduating, Colin has earned valuable employment experience as well as selflessly volunteering his time and efforts with the BC Wheelchair Basketball Society.

“I Didn’t Realize Learning Could Be So Much Fun!”

Colin found WorkBC and began to work closely with his career coach, exploring careers and pathways that would enable him to achieve his personal goals. Despite some pushback, Colin, with the support of his WorkBC career coach chose to go back to school, enrolling in a Business Fundamentals Diploma program. Colin worked extremely hard and performed very well, earning his diploma!

WorkBC Langley & Maple Ridge is pleased to continue to support Colin as he has now entered the job market, currently interviewing for administration positions.

Congratulations Colin, you’ve earned it!
